Importing Contacts from the Address Book

Totals will not work on the Mac OS X Address Book database directly. Instead, you can import contacts from the Address Book and synchronize them later again.

By using this strategy you can move your database later to other macs without any dependency problems with the Mac OS X Address Book application.

To import a contact from the Address Book - 1

  1. Select the menu item File > New Client > Import from Address Book.
    A new window will open.
  2. Select the contact(s) you want to import.
  3. Click the Add button.

To import a contact from the Address Book - 2

  1. Click Add Client in the toolbar.
    A menu will popup.
  2. Select Add New Client.

To import a contact from the Address Book - 3

  1. Select Contacts from the left source list.
  2. Click the plus (+) button under the clients/suppliers list.
    A menu will popup.
  3. Select Import from Address Book.
    A new window will open.
  4. Select the contact(s) you want to import.
  5. Click the Add button.

To import a contact from the Address Book - 4

Totals will display a Guide View in the right pane if the contacts list is empty.

  1. Client Import from Address Book in the Guide View.
  2. Select the contact(s) you want to import.
  3. Click the Add button.

The contact will be added as a client if the Clients tab is selected and as a supplier if the Suppliers tab is selected.
